Description

Very nice, small Louis XVI Cartel Clock, ca 1770, signed Lochon A Paris. The clock has an 8 day movement with a special spring-loaded pull repeater and petit sonnerie striking on two bells.

Literature: Such cartel clocks are shown on pages 190/194 of the Encyclopedia de la Pendule Française, Pierre Kjelberg. The creator, Lochon, Germain-Mathurin, was born in Paris in 1727. Pupil Clockmaker is listed in the Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français, Tardy. Around 1741-42
