Description

An extravagant pair of very large gilt bronze wall lights, lavishly shaped as a cluster of three intertwining branches with oak leaf garlands.

The striking pair was made as a direct copy of a model by Jean-Claude Duplessis from ca. 1750. Well known pairs of these appliques are in the Wrightsman Collection of the Metropolitain Museum of Art, and in the former collection of Baron Maurice de Rothschild.
