A very handsome, small and unusual German high quality quarter striking miniature bracket clock, signed Gruony a Saeckingen, with a lovely engraved signature in the back plate of the movement. Saeckingen is a town on the south German Swiss border.
The beautiful dark walnut patinated case with guilded bronze mounts on bun feet, with domed top.
The lovely enamel dial surrounded by elaborate gilded engraved fretwork. On the dial, Roman numbers for the hours and Arabic numbers for the minutes. Blue-steeled hands. The one day spring driven ‘on-bell’ quarter striking movement on count wheel, with cow tail pendulum and verge escapement.
This small very elegant clock is beautiful to see and hold in the hand.
