Description

An Austrian miniature brass Brettl wall clock, circa 1850, with a pierced lyre-shaped crest and central date indication. The name Brettl derives from the decorative boards on which clocks of this type were often hung.

The 6.4-cm enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, Arabic quarter-hour markings and date numerals around the inner edge of the chapter ring. The diamond-shaped hands and date hand are made of blued steel.

The weight-driven movement has a duration of one day and is regulated by anchor escapement and a pendulum with a finely engraved bob. The brass case has side doors and is mounted by a suspension hoop and spurs.

Case dimensions: height 10.5 cm; width 6.8 cm; depth 5 cm.
